Writing letters

Cailan did some great drawing and writing this afternoon. For the first time, he intentionally drew letters and numbers that are identifiable. Granted, the letters he picked to write are all pretty simple and linear, but I still thought it was a great accomplishment. See if you can find the 11, the v, the y, the o, and the many small i's in the picture.

On a different page, he drew several letters using a stencil, which he calls a spencil. Again, I was impressed by how he picked the letter he wanted to make and then guided the pen through all the curves of the stencil. Chris helped him by holding the stencil steady.

The other thing he did was use two crayons to pound out the drum rhythm of a They Might Be Giants song. When I started singing along, he adjusted his drumming to match my tempo and the place in the song.

You are lucky on the song. If I start in a different rhythmic place, all I get is either "daddy did it wrong" or "daddy sing Giants better". Everyone's a critic...
