Trip to Denver, Day 1

Last week, I had to go to Denver for 3 days of computer training. Chris and Cailan came along with me, and while I was in class, they went out to explore the town. On Monday, they went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The first thing that Cailan saw when they walked inside was a tyrannosaurus skeleton. He was ecstatic.

Here is Cailan standing beside a wall painted with actual-size dinosaurs. Cailan is smaller than the foot of a tyrannosaurus but bigger than a compsognathus. I like how he posed with his elbow bent and his hand at his waist.

This is what Cailan liked best: reading the signs about the different dinosaurs. Chris said that he would run from one display to another, just to read the signs.

Running around amongst the dinosaurs is hard work, so a young paleontologist needs to refuel. Macaroni and cheese is a perennial, but I understand that there was a chocolate chip cookie that was consumed first.

Chris and Cailan eventually left the dinosaur exhibit and spent some time in the kid's area. This piano had plexiglass on the front, so Cailan was able to watch all the hammers working - he was fascinated by it.

Chris and Cailan had almost made it through the whole museum when the lights suddenly went out. They had to leave but received passes to come back again another day.

He was beside himself. I think that first picture really captures it!
